Liz Guthrie, ASLA

Liz Guthrie, ASLA, LEED Green Associate, is the Manager of Professional Practice Programs with the national office of the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) and serves as ASLA’s staff liaison to the Sustainable Sites Initiative™ (SITES™). Liz coordinates ASLA member involvement in SITES, and works with volunteers, leadership and other related partner organizations to promote and advance the work of the Initiative and key issues of sustainability. Liz also serves as the staff representative to the ASLA Sustainable Design Professional Practice Network and to the Public Practice Advisory Committee.

Liz’s experience includes work as a landscape architect and planner with landscape architecture and planning firms and agencies on the east and west coasts including the Presidio Trust. She has held teaching positions with the National Building Museum, Wave Hill, and several independent schools. 

As a former Hill resident, Liz is proud to have led the landscape design for the 13th Street Park and Garden in her neighborhood, which was constructed last year. In June 2012, Liz was invited to participate in “Shifts in Horizon,” a landscape photography workshop with the Marin Headlands Center for the Arts in Sausalito, California.

Liz holds a master’s degree in landscape architecture from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in the growth and structure of cities from Haverford College.
