Scholarships and Fellowships
- AIGA Worldstudio Scholarships benefit minority and economically disadvantaged students who are studying photography, illustration, and design disciplines in colleges and universities in the United States. Scholarships are awarded annually to encourage social and environmental responsibility and cultural awareness in the next generation of artists and designers.
ASLA Council of Fellows Scholarship
- Eligible applicants must be permanent U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens who are third, fourth, or fifth-year undergraduates of landscape architecture at a Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited school. The program seeks to aid outstanding students in financial need and to increase the participation of under-represented populations in landscape architecture.
- One $10,000 award and three $5,000 awards.

ASLA Florida Chapter Career Discovery Scholarship
- Established in 2019, the $5,000 American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Florida Chapter Career Discovery Scholarship is awarded to students currently enrolled in an LAAB-accredited landscape architecture program at a university in the state of Florida.
- Deadline: February 1
ASLA Hawaii Chapter/Woolsey Scholarship
- Open to currently-enrolled third-, fourth-, or fifth-year
undergraduate students or graduate students studying landscape
architecture at Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB)
accredited/candidacy programs in the United States.
- Applicant’s university must be within the Hawaii Chapter ASLA
boundary* or the applicant's permanent residence must be in Hawaii.
- Deadline: February 1.
ASLA NY Designing in the Public Realm Scholarship
- To be eligible, the applicant's university must be within the ASLA-NY Chapter boundary or the applicant must have graduated from a high school within the ASLA-NY boundary.
- One $5,000 award.

Clara Carter Higgins Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship and the GCA Awards for Summer Environmental Studies
- For undergraduate students following their freshman, sophomore, or junior years doing field work, research, or classroom work in an environmental field.
- Provides two or more scholars $2,000 each.

Construction Owners Association of America (COAA)
- COAA offers one or more $3,000 scholarships each year to deserving students pursuing a career in the design & construction industry.
- Eligible Students must be either a relative of an employee of a COAA Member, an employee of a COAA Member Organization, or a full-time student at a COAA Member Organization of higher education.

Connecticut ASLA - Karen Ann Shopis-Fox Memorial Scholarships
- CTASLA offers scholarships to
students to encourage awareness and education in the field of landscape
architecture. The Karen Ann Shopis-Fox Memorial Scholarship is awarded to
students currently enrolled in an accredited landscape architecture
program at the college or university level.
- Applicant must be a legal
resident of the State of Connecticut.
- Minimum of one scholarship in
the amount of $2,500 will be awarded.

Connecticut ASLA - Landscape Architecture Environmental Stewardship Scholarshipfor High School Seniors
- CTASLA offers scholarships to
students to encourage awareness and education in the field of landscape
architecture. The Landscape Architecture Environmental Stewardship
Scholarship for High School Seniors is awarded to high school students who
are applying to study landscape architecture at the college or university
level.
- Applicant must be a legal
resident of the State of Connecticut.
- Minimum of one scholarship up
to the amount of $2,500 will be awarded.
- Deadline: April 14
Dumbarton Oaks Mellon Colloquium Award
- Travel grant for students wishing to attend the annual colloquium or
symposium in Garden and Landscape Studies at Dumbarton Oaks, in
Washington, D.C.
- Awards offer reimbursement up to $600 for the cost
of travel, local accommodation, and other approved expenses related to
symposium or colloquium attendance. Registration fees are waived for
holders of the awards.
EDSA Minority Scholarship (LAF)
- To help minority students continue their landscape architecture education.
- Eligible candidates must be entering their final two years of undergraduate study or pursuing a graduate degree.
- One $5,000 award.

Elizabeth Gardner Norweb Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship
- For undergraduate students following their freshman, sophomore, or junior years doing field work, research, or classroom work in an environmental field.
- Awards one scholar $3,000.

Garden Club Association Award in Coastal Wetlands Studies
- One-year scholarship for graduate studies at a university within the U.S. to support field-based research on wetlands conservation.
- Stipend is $5,000.

Garden Club Association Award in Desert Studies
- Applicants must be an advanced undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited U.S. university studying horticulture, conservation, botany, environmental science and landscape design relating to the arid landscape.
- Awards one or more scholars $4,000.

Houzz Scholarship Program
- Awards of $2,500.
- Eligible candidates are students 17 years of age or older currently enrolled or plan to enroll in landscape architecture program in the U.S.
- Open to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Katherine M. Grosscup Scholarships
- Open to college juniors, seniors or graduate students majoring in horticulture or related fields with preference given to students from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia.

LAF Olmsted Scholars Program
- The Olmsted Scholars Program recognizes one outstanding student leader from each university with an accredited landscape architecture program. Olmsted Scholars are nominated by faculty — students do not apply directly.
- One $25,000 national award; all nominees are recognized as University Olmsted Scholars.

LAF Honor Scholarship for Inclusive Community Design

This $10,000 scholarship, established by Patrick Phillips, former Global CEO of the Urban Land Institute, is for graduate landscape architecture students. Applicants should show commitment to underserved urban communities and addressing community-scale design issues. Preference is given to those interested in careers in the non-profit or public sector.

LAF
Research Grant in Honor of Deb Mitchell
- Each
year, one $25,000 grant will be awarded to support a research project that can
be completed in a 12- to 18-month period. The research must generate knowledge
and insights relevant to the practice of design in order to increase landscape
architecture’s capacity and impact.
- The
Principal Investigator must be trained as a landscape architect and currently
engaged in the field of landscape architecture as a researcher, educator,
professional practitioner, or in some other capacity.

- Eligible applicants are students currently enrolled in a LAAB- or CSLA-accredited Master's degree program (post-baccalaureate or non-baccalaureate).

Loy McCandless Marks Scholarship in Tropical Horticulture
- For well-qualified U.S. advanced undergraduates or graduate students specializing in tropical horticulture, botany, or landscape architecture at a foreign institution.

MANO Project National Park Service’s Conservation and
Outdoor Recreation Fellowship Program
- The MANO Project (My Access to a Network of
Opportunities) is partnering with the National Park Service’s Conservation and
Outdoor Recreation Fellowship Program to provide fellowship opportunities that
offer unique, PAID experiences that connect, build and develop thoughtful
Latino leaders. These opportunities provide extensive training, mentoring and
professional development support to help students succeed.

Michigan ASLA Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship
- The scholarship is aimed at developing a more diverse and inclusive generation of future leaders in the profession of landscape architecture.
- To be eligible, the applicant must be Black/African American, Hispanic, Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander and attending an accredited Landscape Architecture program in the State of Michigan.
- Have a current GPA of 3.0 or better

Rain Bird Intelligent Use of Water Scholarship (LAF)

SmithGroup Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Scholarship Program
- Provides support and mentorship to students from historically underrepresented demographics in architecture, interior design, planning, landscape architecture and engineering.
- This scholarship includes a one-time award of $6,000 to
offset the student's tuition at their current academic institution (5
scholarships are awarded each year). Additionally, the scholarship recipients
serve as paid summer interns at SmithGroup offices across the United States
(internship is a program requirement).
Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship (LAF)
- Eligible candidates are landscape architecture students at an LAAB-accredited school who are graduate students or in undergraduates in their final two years of study.

- Pathways Programs offer a variety of paid employment opportunities with the Federal government for high school students, undergraduates, post-graduates and recent graduates.

Unilock Paving the Future Scholarship
- The Unilock Paving the Future Scholarship aims to invest in a new generation of landscape architects, design and construction leaders.
- Awards in the amount of $5,000 each will be presented to selected students.
- To be eligible, applicants must be entering their final year of a full-time, undergraduate or graduate program in landscape
architecture, landscape design or related field at a college or university. Students in an apprenticeship program are also eligible.

Vectorworks Design Scholarship
- Eligible candidates must be enrolled in an accredited design program and registered for six or more credits.

Fellowships Boasberg Fellowship The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF)
- Student or recent graduate in Landscape Architecture, Historic Preservation, or related field.
- Available 6-8 weeks during the summer at The Cultural Landscape Foundation in Washington, DC.
- Provides compensation and housing in Washington, DC.

Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design (LAF)
- Eligible candidates are graduate students studying at U.S. institution.
- Proposed projects can range from investigating new techniques of garden restoration to documenting the impacts of community gardens.
- One $4,000 award.

Garden Club of America/Royal Horticultural Society Interchange Fellowships
- The RHS Interchange Fellowship: Provides up to 12,000 GBP and enables one American student to spend ten months working and studying at
leading horticultural centers or historic and botanic gardens in the UK.
- The GCA Interchange Fellowship: Provides up to US$30,000 and enables a British recipient to attend a graduate program in horticulture,
landscape architecture, or environmental studies at a US university for
one academic year or for a one-year internship at Longwood Gardens in
the US.

Garden Club Association VI Fellowship in Urban Forestry
- Applicant must be an advanced undergraduate or graduate student studying urban forestry, environmental studies, horticulture, forestry, or related courses. Students must be enrolled during the academic year following the award.

Garden Club of Virginia Fellowship Program
- Two paid Fellowships are available to qualified graduate students -- The Rudy J. Favretti Fellowship and the William D. Rieley Fellowship.
- Applicants must be must be candidates for a master's degree in landscape architecture, historic preservation, landscape or architectural history, archaeology, anthropology, history, or horticulture.
- Each Fellow will be paid a stipend of $8,000 plus certain living expenses. Housing will be provided in the vicinity of each Fellow's project site.
LAF
Fellowship for Innovation and Leadership
- The
$25,000 fellowship is an opportunity for landscape architecture professionals
to dedicate the equivalent of 3 months’ time over the course of one year to
nurture emerging ideas and to think deeply. It is designed as a time to
reflect, research, explore, create, test, and develop ideas into action.
- Each
year, 3-4 mid-career and senior-level fellowships are awarded through a
competitive application process based on a proposed project. Selected Fellows
receive a $25,000 financial award and participate in three 2.5-day residencies
over the course of a year, as well as monthly conference calls. Their projects
must demonstrate the potential to bring about impactful change to the
environment and humanity and have the capacity to grow the leadership potential
of landscape architects.
Rome Prize Fellowship in Landscape Architecture
- Landscape architecture, historic preservation and conservation, and architecture fellowships are provided, among many other fields.
- Provides up to 30 fellows room and board, a study or studio, and a stipend. Stipends for six-month fellowships are $16,000 and stipends for eleven-month fellowships are $28,000.

Switzer Environmental Fellowship Program
- To support graduate students in New England and California whose studies are directed toward improving environmental quality and who demonstrate leadership in their field.
- The fellowship provides a one-year, $15,000 cash award for graduate study as well as networking and leadership support to awardees. Twenty fellowships are awarded each year (ten in California and ten in New England).
