Thanks to many years of steadfast grassroots efforts by ASLA members and the work of ASLA’s government affairs team, this Act includes critical victories for the landscape architecture profession and the communities they serve.

ASLA encourages its members who want to make a difference and want a seat at the table to use the White House “get involved” portal to apply for political appointment positions, including full-time policy positions and volunteer advisory boards and committees.

Thanks to this new law, the fencing started coming down immediately after the rally and was completely removed by that Sunday night. ASLA will continue to work with Congress to ensure that landscape architecture techniques will be considered and used when security upgrades are before Congress.

ASLA’s State Government Affairs team recently hosted AMPLIFY—the first two-day virtual state advocacy summit. AMPLIFY brought together over 160 chapter leaders and representatives to learn about the current legislative environment of occupational licensure and to be inspired to increase chapter efforts on climate change advocacy.

ASLA commends the decision by the U.S. Capitol Police Board to remove the fencing that had been erected around the U.S. Capitol building since the events of January 6.
