The American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) is committed to growing the next generation of design professionals with landscape architecture and is pleased to welcome its first formal Committee on K-12 Education and Career Discovery. Access committee bios here.

Committee Mission Statement

The committee will focus on the development, advocacy, and support of ASLA resources that prioritize the voice, presence, and perspective of K-12 audience throughout the profession, as well as within ASLA. Each member of the community brings deep knowledge and practical expertise in K-12 education, diversity, and inclusion, innovative engagement strategies, and partner development.

March 26-29 - Miranda Mote, Ph.D. will represent ASLA at the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) Conference on Science Education in Philadelphia, PA

April 11-13 - Baldev Lamba, RLA, ASLA will be presenting Healing our Planet and Society - History, Theories, Challenges, and Prospects at the 8th Fábos Conference on Landscape and Greenway Planning: Healing Place and Planet Conference in Amherst, UMass, MA.

April 14-16 – Chloe Gillespie, ASLA and Brooke Freeman, ASLA will be presenting Growing Future Designers: Transforming Schoolyards into Green Learning Labs at the Central States Roots to STEM Conference, Kansas City, MO

May 13-16 - Taylor Metz, ASLA will be presenting Play at Work: Exploring participatory design models for children's playspaces at the 2025 Nature Everywhere Conference in Saint Paul, MN
