American Society of Landscape Architects Council of Fellows Scholarship

  • Eligible applicants must be permanent U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens who are third, fourth, or fifth-year undergraduates of landscape architecture at a Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited school.
  • Three $5,000 awards, one of which is only available to minority students.

ASLA-NY Designing in the Public Realm Scholarship  

  • To be eligible, the applicant's university must be within the ASLA-NY Chapter boundary.
  • One $5,000 award.

 Boston Society of Landscape Architects  Student Scholarships

  • Scholarship applicants must be legal residents of or attending a school in Maine or Massachusetts; the applicant must be enrolled in a landscape architecture program at the university level.
  • Up to six $2,000 scholarships

Clara Carter Higgins Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship and the GCA Awards for Summer Environmental Studies  
  • For undergraduate students following their freshman, sophomore, or junior years doing field work, research, or classroom work in an environmental field.
  • Provides two or more scholars $2,000 each.

Connecticut ASLA Student Scholarship

  • Scholarship applicants must be a legal resident of Connecticut and enrolled in an LAAB accredited landscape architecture education program at the college or university level.
  • Up to two scholarships, typically $2,500 each.
  • Applications must be postmarked between January 1 and March 15.

Courtland Paul Scholarship (LAF)  

  • Eligible candidates are U.S. citizens who are undergraduate students at an LAAB-accredited school in their final two years of study with a need for financial assistance.
  • One $5,000 award

EDSA Minority Scholarship (LAF)  

  • To help minority students continue their landscape architecture education.
  • Eligible candidates must be entering their final two years of undergraduate study or pursuing a graduate degree in Landscape Architecture.
  • One $5,000 award

Elizabeth Gardner Norweb Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship 

  • For undergraduate students following their freshman, sophomore, or junior years doing field work, research, or classroom work in an environmental field.
  • Awards one scholar $2,000

Garden Club Association Award in Coastal Wetlands Studies

  • One-year scholarship for graduate studies at a university within the U.S. to support field-based research on wetlands conservation.
  • Stipend is $5,000

Garden Club Association Award in Desert Studies 

  • Applicants must be an advanced undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an accredited U.S. university studying horticulture, conservation, botany, environmental science and landscape design relating to the arid landscape.
  • Awards one or more scholars $4,000

ASLA Hawaii Chapter/ David T. Woolsey Scholarship (LAF)

  • Eligible candidates are third, fourth, and fifth-year undergraduate or graduate students of landscape architecture at an LAAB accredited school and permanent residents of Hawaii.
  • One $2,000 award

Katherine M. Grosscup Scholarships 

  • Open to college juniors, seniors or graduate students majoring in horticulture or related fields with preference given to students from Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, or West Virginia.
  • Several scholarships up to $3,500

Landscape Architecture Foundation Scholarship in Memory Joe Lalli, FASLA  

  • Eligible applicants are students currently enrolled in a  LAAB- or CSLA-accredited Master's degree program (post-baccalaureate or non-baccalaureate).
  • One $20,000 award

  Landscape Architecture Foundation Olmsted Scholars Program

  • The Olmsted Scholars Program recognizes one outstanding student leader from each university with an accredited landscape architecture program. Olmsted Scholars are nominated by faculty — students do not apply directly.
  • One $25,000 national award; all nominees are recognized as University Olmsted Scholars

Landscape Forms Design for People Scholarship (LAF)  

  • Eligible candidates are landscape architecture students in their final year of undergraduate study in an LAAB-accredited program.
  • One $3,000 award

Loy McCandless Marks Scholarship in Tropical Horticulture 

  • For well-qualified U.S. advanced undergraduates or graduate students specializing in tropical horticulture, botany, or landscape architecture at a foreign institution.
  • Awards recipient $5,000 each even-numbered year.

Rain Bird Intelligent Use of Water Scholarship (LAF)  

  • Eligible candidates are landscape architecture, horticulture, or irrigation science students in their final two years of undergraduate study.

Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship (LAF)  

  • Eligible candidates are landscape architecture students at an LAAB-accredited school who are graduate students or in undergraduates in their final two years of study.

Peridian International, Inc./Rae L. Price, FASLA Scholarship (LAF)

  • Eligible candidates are U.S. citizens in their final two years of study in Landscape Architecture at the UCLA Extension Program or Cal Poly Pomona who demonstrate financial need.
  • One $5,000 award

ULI Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition

  • Applicants must be graduate students with experience in real estate or design to provide an urban plan and a financial feasibility strategy for a pre-designated large-scale site.
  • Winning team receives $50,000; runners up receive $10,000

Vectorworks Design Scholarship

  • Eligible candidates are enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, for six or more credits in a design-based program or will graduate from a design-based program in 2015.
  • 20 awards available; award amounts range from $3,000 to $10,000

  Fellowships 

Boasberg Fellowship  

  • Landscape Architecture or Historic Preservation Student or Alumnus preferred. Other relevant degrees or experience will be considered.
  • Available 8-12 weeks between June and September at The Cultural Landscape Foundation in Washington, DC.
  • Provides compensation and housing, at least 24 hours per week requested, full time available.
  • Application materials due March 15.

Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design (LAF)  

  • Eligible candidates are graduate students studying at a U.S. institution
  • Proposed projects can range from investigating new techniques of garden restoration to documenting the impacts of community gardens.
  • One $4,000 award

Garden Club of America/Royal Horticultural Society Interchange Fellowships

  • The RHS Interchange Fellowship: Provides up to 12,000 GBP and enables one American student to spend ten months working and studying at leading horticultural centers or historic and botanic gardens in the UK.
  • The GCA Interchange Fellowship: Provides up to US$30,000 and enables a British recipient to attend a graduate program in horticulture, landscape architecture, or environmental studies at a US university for one academic year or for a one-year internship at Longwood Gardens in the US.

Garden Club Association VI Fellowship in Urban Forestry 

  • Applicant must be an advanced undergraduate or graduate student studying urban forestry, environmental studies, horticulture, forestry, or related courses. Students must be enrolled during the academic year following the award
  • Funds one or more students $4,000 each.

Rome Prize Fellowship in Landscape Architecture 

  • Landscape architecture, historic preservation and conservation, and architecture fellowships are provided, among many other fields.
  • Provides up to 30 fellows room and board, a study or studio, and a stipend. Stipends for six-month fellowships are $12,500 and stipends for eleven-month fellowships are $25,000.

 Star Fellowship

  • Applicants must be master or doctoral level students in environment-related fields of study.
  • Provides up to $37,000 per year of support. Master level may receive support for a maximum of two years; Doctoral students may be supported for a maximum of three to four years.

Switzer Environmental Fellowship Program

  • To support graduate students in New England and California whose studies are directed toward improving environmental quality and who demonstrate leadership in their field.
  • The fellowship provides a one-year, $13,000 cash award for graduate study as well as networking and leadership support to awardees. Twenty fellowships are awarded each year (ten in California and ten in New England).
