Five Tips for Crafting a Standout Proposal

ASLA 2024 Professional Communications Design Honor Award. 2023 Coastal Master Plan: A Plan for Louisiana’s Coastal Communities. New Orleans, LA. SCAPE / Louisiana CPRA.

The countdown is on! With just three weeks until the ASLA 2025 Call for Presentations submission deadline, we encourage you to carve out an hour this week to log into our system, review the guidelines, and begin crafting your proposal.

Top Tips for Crafting a Winning Proposal:

  • Assemble a Diverse Team: ASLA is committed to showcasing a broad spectrum of voices. Sessions featuring speakers who did not present at last year’s conference will be prioritized. We also encourage including perspectives from outside the landscape architecture profession. Please note: single-speaker proposals will not be considered.
  • Get Creative: Show us your passion! Think creatively about how your projects and insights align with our seven education tracks. Unconventional approaches and unique perspectives are welcome.
  • Focus on Practical Application: Ask yourself, "What practical knowledge can attendees gain from my session that they can apply to their practice or business?" Aim to offer actionable insights.
  • Polish Your Proposal: Collaboration is key! Use our submission guides and templates to work with your co-speakers. Draft, review, and edit thoroughly before submitting. A well-edited proposal makes a strong impression.
  • Submit Early: Don’t wait until the last minute. Submit early to avoid last-minute issues. Remember, all speakers must accept the speaker terms and agreement before the proposal can be submitted.
