Get Ready for LABash 2025!

The University of Guelph is bringing LABash Home!

Hello Landscape Architecture Students!

We hope you had a relaxing winter break. We are excited to provide you some updates and get you ready for LABash 2025!

Since 1970, the LABash Conference has been a student-led conference in landscape architecture. LABash was founded in Guelph back in 1970 and has continued to be an educational and fun way for LA students to meet.

LABash 2025: "Reimagine"

In response to new technologies, increased environmental stresses, and changing climates, we will celebrate innovative approaches that shape the future of our profession. From exploring the latest technological advancements to addressing the urgent needs for sustainability and resilience in our urban spaces, this year's conference will inspire discussions and ideas that reimagine how we design and interact with our environment.

Three Benefits of Attending LABash @ the University of Guelph

  1. Known as the Royal City, Guelph is known for our charming downtown and rich natural scene. We strive to create a place that celebrates heritage and modern amenities. With our wide networks of parks, trails, and green spaces, coupled with the variety of unique cafes and local stores. To highlight our weekly Farmer’s Market, every Saturday, this market invites people from across the city and wider community to one of Guelph’s oldest and well-loved community spaces offers fresh local food!
  2. We have an exciting line-up of speakers with ranging topics from land-based teachings, to non-profit community projects, to climate resiliency, and we look forward to spark conversations between students and industry professionals.
  3. Experiencing the city and the neighbors – Toronto –  on our waterfront tour. This is one of our exciting conference programs where the city of Toronto is facilitating the tour in conjunction with waterfront TO, and having representatives from each park be on site and speak about the project.

Seed Fund

During LABash 2021, the host students at Cornell University wanted to address the inequities within the profession and the many barriers to participate in landscape architecture. They invited speakers to address ways to properly engage communities, asked firms to speak about their equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, and have taken advantage of the virtual format to make LABash as affordable and accessible as possible. However, they did not want these considerations to end after the 2021 conference but to continue them through the coming years. This fund will help students with financial needs attend LABash conferences, creating a more accessible, equitable, and inclusive experience for landscape architecture students everywhere.

Students can apply to the Seed Fund today here. Applications will close on January 19, 2025
