Do you know a K-12 teacher passionate about shaping young minds?
ASLA invites educators to apply for the Teaching Environmental Humanities through Landscape Architecture program, a unique, grant-funded opportunity supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
This program offers two immersive, week-long workshops in Washington, D.C., during summer 2025, where teachers will explore how landscape architecture connects history, storytelling, and ecology. Through expert-led sessions, hands-on design activities, and visits to sites like the National World War I Memorial and Howard University, educators will gain tools to create engaging, place-based learning experiences.
Program Highlights
- Innovative Curricula: Learn strategies to teach sustainability, cultural heritage, and environmental ethics.
- Immersive Experiences: Discover the power of landscape architecture through field visits and hands-on workshops.
- Student Impact: Inspire students to see their communities through a lens of history, ecology, and design.
Participants will receive a $1300 stipend to offset the cost of travel, accommodations, and program participation. To apply, teachers provide their background and share their enthusiasm for incorporating landscape architecture into their classrooms.
Applications are open now and close on March 5, 2025. Encourage the teachers you know to apply and help inspire the next generation of environmental leaders.
