This October, Land F/X will celebrate our 19th appearance at the ASLA Conference by throwing an epic party. 

It may be hard to believe that back in 2004, a landscape architect father and his computer programmer son would take their little software creation to show the world and it would have such an immediate and lasting impact. Back then, we didn’t even have an office or any employees – just a converted garage. 

Fast forward to today, when nearly 3,000 offices depend on Land F/X and its staff of 35+ (and growing) to create and support truly world-class design software. More than 350,000 projects have been created using Land F/X, ranging from tiny residences to entire cities and theme parks. 

If you’re not familiar with Land F/X, maybe it’s time to take a look. If you have a smartphone in your pocket, you’ve clearly managed that leap, even though Land F/X came out two years before the iPhone. If you rely on YouTube videos, you’ll be glad to know we have produced hundreds of instructional videos – not to mention that we launched a full year before YouTube. We also like to share photos on Instagram of clients’ creations with our software, and Land F/X predates Instagram by six years. 

Any day now, we will have our first generational user, born to one of our first customers back in 2005, now graduated from college and ready to become a landscape architect just like their parent. You might be surprised at the possibility of finding yourself a full generation behind a technological leap, yet here you are, about to be lapped by the child of another user. Don’t let that happen.
