Reflecting on the ASLA Racial Equity Plan of Action, the Divine Nine Spaces Webinar Series raises awareness of Black historic landscapes and pioneering Black landscape architects.

ASLA is pleased to continue elevating this exciting conversation on the design of spaces celebrating Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLOs) across the county.

On February 15, 2024, 1:30pm EST, ASLA will highlight the Auburn University National Pan Hellenic Legacy Plaza designed by HNP Landscape Architects. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from Devlon Ward, ASLA, on the 50th year celebration of Black Greek Life at Auburn University and the impact of the plaza on the intergenerational community of Divine Nine members.

About Devlon Ward, ASLA

Devlon is a native of Starkville, Mississippi, where he earned a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from Mississippi State University. He feels fortunate to be a part of HNP Landscape Architecture and the profession itself, which is a rewarding profession full of varied expertise, projects, people, and environments. Devlon is inspired by his work's ability to improve the lives and liberties of individuals, families, communities, cities, and even the world.

With this passionate outlook, Devlon aims to hone his professional land planning and sustainable design skills to create inspirational outdoor spaces for the people who inhabit them. Devlon's greatest strength is his knowledge of residential carpentry, a skill passed down from his grandfather. This valuable field knowledge informs his design concepts and documentation, ensuring the design vision is not just an idea, but an idea that can be built. When not in the office, Devlon enjoys drawing charcoal, still-life portraits, and oil painting with his wife and three daughters.
