2022 marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Frederick Law Olmsted, social reformer and founder of American landscape architecture. To celebrate, ten organizations, including ASLA and the National Association for Olmsted Parks, founded Olmsted 200.

Since its launch in 2021, the Olmsted 200 campaign has grown into a vital resource for new and seasoned Olmsted fans. The website— www.olmsted200.org— offers celebration tools, a lively blog, and a bustling national calendar.

The national calendar showcases events happening across the country and online— such as the popular Conversations with Olmsted webinar series, which is available to watch on YouTube.

Current calendar highlights include:
Planning your own event? Public events can be submitted to the calendar here.

In addition to a wide variety of programming, Olmsted 200 is proud to offer a free exhibit for those looking to bring Olmsted’s story to their community. Frederick Law Olmsted: Landscapes for the Public Good is a downloadable exhibit with 23 panels of vivid photos and drawings. The exhibit explores the many facets of Olmsted’s life and legacy, highlighting some of his most well-known projects like the U.S. Capitol Grounds in Washington and Central Park in New York City. The exhibit can be viewed and downloaded at www.olmsted200exhibit.com. It is now available in Spanish!

Olmsted 200 encourages everyone to use these resources to make this “The Summer of Olmsted.” For more information on Olmsted 200, follow us on social media (@Olmsted200) via our Linktree here.
