A Contemporary Square
The 1899 façade of South Station anchors a vibrant, contemporary square that serves many functions. A series of festivals, outdoor films, and art exhibits make Dewey Square one of the most programmed sections of the Rose Kennedy Greenway. The green space in the foreground served as the site of the Occupy Boston movement in 2011.

This mural will be removed in October 2013 and replaced as part of an ongoing series of monumental public works.

The demonstration gardens feature pollinator plants that attract beneficial insects, unusual edible plants, and a rain garden comprised of native plants of the Northeast. There's also a dedicated area for composting.
