Jennifer L. Toole, ASLA, AICP is the president of Toole Design Group, the nation's leading planning, engineering, and landscape architecture firm specializing in bicycle and pedestrian transportation. The company is headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area and has offices throughout the U.S., including one in Boston. Toole Design Group has a national reputation for their groundbreaking work on alternative transportation and has worked on projects in more than 35 states as well as Canada and South America.
Well respected amongst her peers, Jennifer was principal investigator for the 2012 edition of AASHTO’s Guide for the Development of Bicycle Facilities. She served three terms as the president of the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals (APBP), and received one of the organization’s highest honors – the Professional of the Year Award.
Toole Design Group has been the lead consultant for Boston’s bicycle network, including the bike lanes and bike boxes along the historic Commonwealth Avenue Mall. In addition, the firm was the lead consultant for Boston’s Complete Streets Guidelines, which address multi-modal, green, and smart street design.
