Good site context information... great overall design solution
for the reclaimed site... enough analysis presented to make the
point... good sequence of scales from the overall sanctuary through
to the details of stream and lake construction, and some nice
ideas for the visitor center. This seems to be a very realistic
approach.

Student Awards Jury Comments
The goal of this project was to find a way to reclaim the land
of the San Miguel Lignite Mine, located south of San Antonio, Texas,
that enhances the landscape, making it aesthetically appealing and
ecologically diverse through the manipulation of landforms to enhance
habitat for wildlife and cattle by working with topography, native
vegetation, and hydrology.
