Thanks to the advocacy efforts of ASLA members, the Paul Amendment to elmininate the Transportation Enhancements (TE) program has been resoundingly defeated! A bipartisan group of 60 senators voted against the Paul Amendment, leaving the TE program intact for the moment.
During ASLA's 2011 Annual Meeting and Expo in San Diego, hundreds of landscape architects answered the call to action from President Jonathan Mueller, FASLA and sent their senators thousands of messages urging a "no vote" on the Paul Amendment. Mueller stated, "this is a tremendous victory for landscape architects and other TE advocates."
ASLA and dozens of allied organizations have worked dilligently to fend off multiple attacks on the TE program. TE projects in communities across the country are helping to provide transportation options that spur economic development and create local jobs.
