Boston Lighthouse Tour
The three-hour trip begins with a 45-minute narrated tour on a comfortable vessel, where you will experience the rich maritime history of the islands with a park ranger. The lighthouse is on Little Brewster Island. Also still standing is the 1876 fog signal building, 1884 keeper’s house, 1884 cistern building, 1889 oil house, and the 1899 boathouse.

British forces destroyed the orginal lighthouse during the Revolutionary War. Rebuilt in 1753, and extended in 1856, the lighthouse is 98 feet tall. Climb the 76 steps, and two ladders, up Boston Light’s tower and see its historic Fresnel lens.

Its light, flashing white every 10 seconds, shines through the only second-order Fresnel lens still in use in Massachusetts; one of only four. Its light is visible from a distance of 27 nautical miles, which is 31 miles or 50 km.
