Heritage Park Plaza Request for Proposals

Date: 4/14/2014 - 6/13/2014

Type: RFPs / RFQs

Location(s): Texas

Downtown Fort Worth Initiatives, Inc., in partnership with the City of Fort Worth, Texas, invites qualified Landscape Architects and other related consultant services to submit preliminary conceptual designs for the restoration improvements necessary to reopen Heritage Plaza.

Heritage Plaza was designed by renowned landscape architect Lawrence Halprin as the City of Fort Worth’s contribution to the bicentennial of the Unites States. The plaza is located on the top of the bluff overlooking the Trinity River and serves as the gateway from Downtown Fort Worth to Heritage Park, the Trinity Trails, and Panther Island.

At 34 years of age, the plaza has curable issues related to landscape and electrical and mechanical systems for fountains and lighting. Minor structural repairs are also needed. In 2009, Heritage Plaza was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Unfortunately, due to safety concerns, the plaza was closed in April of 2007.

Proposals must include two (2) conceptual designs: one design must address the plaza and plaza entry without operating fountains, and the second design must include the plaza and plaza entry with operating fountains.
