RFQ for Master Planning Services, Cantigny Park, Illinois

Date: 8/30/2013 - 9/27/2013

Type: RFPs / RFQs

Location(s): Illinois

Cantigny Park is the former country estate of Col. Robert R. McCormick, publisher of the Chicago Tribune from 1910-1954. Upon his death in 1955, McCormick’s will established Cantigny as a public park, committed to fostering communities of educated, informed, and engaged citizens. Today, this sprawling, 500-acre park is home to 29 acres of formal display gardens featuring more than 160,000 annuals, perennials, groundcovers, flowering shrubs and trees. In addition, Cantigny offers two history-rich museums, the Robert R. McCormick Museum and the Cantigny First Division Museum, and a 27-hole public golf course.

Cantigny Park is seeking Statements of Interest and Requests for Qualifications from landscape architecture and/or planning firms interested in providing master planning services for the grounds of Cantigny Park. Primary focus will be on developing a vision for the next 20-40 years to guide the future character, evolution, and sustainability of Cantigny Park. The Master Plan will address future site use; key architecture and landscape elements and potential expansion; circulation relating to the park, garden, museum, and maintenance use; as well as addressing lighting, way finding, and storm water management. The scope of work will not include the golf course at Cantigny or architectural programming/analysis of existing buildings.
