Sixty-Nine Seventy, the Spaces Between: An Urban Ideas Competition

Date: 1/10/2013 - 4/20/2013

Type: Competitions / Awards

Location(s): Utah

The Spaces Between Design Competition, Salt Lake City

Sixty-Nine Seventy invites design teams from around the world to re-envision the circulation areas and passages of two blocks in Salt Lake City’s downtown. The entrants will prepare comprehensive ideas and plans for these in-between spaces, developing them into the connective tissue linking the area’s urban cultural amenities.

Salt Lake City is world renowned for its stunning natural surroundings. The city has numerous cultural amenities, a unique history, a booming retail core, and a thriving diverse business community. But currently, it lacks thoughtful connection spaces between these elements. The design competition seeks to harness world-class ideas that will creatively activate these spaces and redefine blocks sixty-nine and seventy.
