Green Industry Conference: 25 Years and Still Innovating

In 1989, Ron Kujawa--Landscape Industry Certified, then-president of the Associated Landscape Contractors of America (ALCA)--formed the Green Industry Conference (GIC) by bringing together the ALCA, Professional Lawn Care Association of America (PLCAA), and Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) shows.

"The GIC provides an opportunity to network with people both inside and outside your sphere and area of expertise," said Kujawa. "Merging the three groups into one conference and trade show gave attendees a broader outlook of the industry and the chance to explore new service opportunities."

GIC will take place in Louisville, Kentucky, October 22-24, which is held in conjunction with GIE+EXPO and Hardscape North America each year. According to PLANET CEO, Sabeena Hickman, CAE, CMP, "This will be the one GIC you really don't want to miss. We are taking time to celebrate our members, our industry, and the 25th anniversary of the Green Industry Conference. It is a really exciting time."

There'll be numerous formal and informal educational opportunities,* including new tracks for collaborative learning and office administration education, and the Learning Lounge featuring power talks on a variety of business-related topics and a genius bar with industry experts to answer business questions.

The silver anniversary celebration also includes a chance to win a 1978 Corvette. Details on how to enter to win can be found at www.winthevette.org.

For more information about GIC or the sweepstakes, visit www.landcarenetwork.org/GIC or call PLANET at 800-395-2522800-395-2522. The following sponsors helped to make this year's conference possible: JOHN DEERE at the Platinum level, Caterpillar, Inc. at the Gold, and Bayer at the Silver. The sweepstakes supporting sponsors include Bayer, Corona Tools, and Syngenta.

*Note: GIC sessions are approved for PLANET Landscape Industry Certified recertification at 1 CEU per hour of instruction attended and for the Landscape Architecture Continuing Education SystemTM (LA CESTM) at one PDH per hour. PGMS and HNA educational sessions also qualify toward PLANET recertification.
