The AzASLA's Central Section is proud to
announce a new event to be hosted on October 1. This education session
will highlight the primary causes of playground injuries and discuss the
responsibilities of owners and manufacturers to provide and maintain

Play for All: ADA Technical Training & Inclusive Recreation Design
September 12, 1-6 p.m.
This next installment of our popular "4 CEUs & a Beer" educational series will focus on accessibility and inclusive recreation design. This program will provide an overview of ADA standards and codes relevant to landscape architects, including recent updates, and illustrate best practices in universal design in play areas. Participants will also learn about the ongoing efforts of the Mayor's Office of People with Disabilities and the Parks Department to expand the accessibility of the city's public spaces. Apply for the 2014 Knowlton Mentor Program
As a mentor, you will serve as the link between career goals and the realities of the business world for a group of young professionals. Mentors' roles and responsibilities include providing guidance based on past business experiences, discussing how the involvement of professional organizations has impacted your career, sharing mistakes and experiences throughout the years, and helping your mentees learn more about your area of expertise and/or interests. The deadline to sign up is September 8.
ASLA Oregon ExCom: Call for Nominations
The Oregon Chapter ASLA is currently seeking nominations for Executive Committee Officers for the 2014-2016 biennium. Please nominate those whom you believe are capable and willing to serve in these important leadership positions by no later than Friday, August 29.
To ensure continuity in leadership, provide an overlap of experienced EXCOM members and maintain steady advancement of chapter initiatives, elections are now held on a split cycle with only half of the executive member positions considered for re-election in alternating years.
