Mark Your Calendars: ArchitectureBoston Expo, November 14 – 16
ArchitectureBoston Expo (ABX), a conference and tradeshow produced by the Boston Society of Architects (BSA), is the premier event for the design and construction industry in New England. The BSA, founder and longtime co-producer of Build Boston and Residential Design and Construction, rolled out a new name and venue for their flagship event this year — it will be held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center November 14 to 16.

ABX - Cyber

By aligning the name with ArchitectureBoston magazine, the BSA has created an accessible brand for the entire industry. ArchitectureBoston magazine has a reputation for thought leadership, engaging everyone from academics to politicians and the cultured general public. ABX is about brass tacks business, engaging everyone from building product vendors to the most technical engineers and high-powered builders.

ABX is committed to landscape architecture as well. The Boston Society of Landscape Architects is sponsoring a landscape architecture track at ABX, spanning all three days of the conference. Session topics include trends in urban and suburban sustainable agriculture, from local edible landscapes to recreational agriculture development, both in the U.S. and abroad. The craft and care of garden design will be discussed, as will health and wellness enrichment through the built environment, new lien laws and their impact on the profession, and the future of landscape lighting. All sessions are eligible for LA CES credits.

ABX - BHIP

The attendees’ experience does not end in the classroom. In addition to 150 workshops, ABX boasts 400 exhibitors on the show floor and a host of new activities. Wednesday kicks off with an Opening Plenary session featuring Boston architecture leaders. A Universal Design exhibit will allow attendees to maneuver through accessible and almost-accessible environments with mobility aids. ADD Inc. will construct a full-scale mock-up of a micro residential unit in the ABX Lounge, and attendees can learn about alternative building techniques under a bamboo dome constructed by Architecture for Humanity Boston. The crown of the evening programs will be an opening night party on the Skybridge overlooking the tradeshow floor.

Registration will be live in late August. Register by October 31 for free admission to the Exhibit Hall and workshop discounts.
