Five Reasons to Register for the ASLA Annual Meeting & EXPO

A message from Annette P. Wilkus, ASLA.

The ASLA 2012 Annual Meeting and EXPO, September 28–October 1 in Phoenix, will be the largest gathering of landscape architecture professionals and students in the world. My colleagues and I who serve on the Annual Meeting Education Advisory Committee believe that you can’t afford to miss it, and here’s why:

1. Education Session Topics: With more than 130 sessions from which to earn up to 21 professional development hours, you’re sure to find topics to enhance your practice and inspire your work. Many qualify for AICP, AIA, USGBC, New York, and Florida credit.

2. Education Session Speakers: Where else can you hear directly from James Burnett, Christy Ten Eyck, Warren Byrd, Mia Lehrer, Tom Oslund, Susan Van Atta, Chris Reed, Walter Hood, and 300 other professional leaders, all within four days?

3. Phoenix! If you haven’t been to Phoenix lately, you really need to come see one of the fastest growing metropolitan areas of the past decade. Landscape architects love cities, and our field sessions— planned and led by landscape architects—provide the perfect opportunity to tour this exciting city and explore its landscape legacy.

4. Networking: Meet with more than 5,000 friends and colleagues at social events throughout the meeting. Catch up with your college roommate and professors at the Alumni Reunion, featuring a record 43 schools. Celebrate the profession at the Gala, the Council of Fellows Investiture Dinner, the Awards Ceremony, the President’s Dinner, and other social events.

5. EXPO: From plants and soils to furnishings and lighting to surfacing and everything in between—the latest, greenest, best products will be there. Test-drive thousands of products from nearly 450 exhibitors. Enter the Luxury Travel and Wine Drawing. New this year: Afternoon receptions will be held both days of the EXPO, from 3:30–5:00 p.m.

There are many more reasons for you to come to Phoenix. For a complete listing of events, visit the Schedule at a Glance. Prices will go up after August 17, so register early.

See you in Phoenix!
