| Election Period Opens for 2013 ASLA President-Elect |
 |
The voting period for the 2013 American Society of Landscape Architects president-elect is now open. For your information and reference, following are some of the particulars about this year's general election for ASLA president-elect: |
 |
|
- Eligible election ballot voters include all Full/Fellow, Associate, and International Members in good standing. Student, Affiliate, Honorary, and Corporate Members are not eligible to vote.
- This year's candidates for president-elect are Mark A. Focht, FASLA, and Vaughn B. Rinner, ASLA.
- In addition, we have a constitutional amendment related to Fellows eligibility and International membership. Please note that Full Members/Fellows are eligible to vote on both the election ballot and the constitutional ballot; Associate and International Members are eligible to vote on the election ballot only.
- The election opened Monday morning, May 14, with a broadcast email message. Votes can be cast either online or by paper ballot. (The paper ballot package also was sent on May 14.)
- The election will close at midnight PDT, Wednesday, June 13. Results will be announced about two weeks thereafter.
- The election is being conducted by Survey and Ballot Systems, Inc. (SBS) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
- An email message was sent to the 11,786 eligible voters on Friday May 11.
- The link to the online voting site, which is also posted on ASLA's home page, is https://www.directvote.net/ASLA/. Candidate information, including responses to the three LAND Candidates’ Forum questions and text and video of the candidates’ speeches before the Board of Trustees, is available with the online ballot.
- Eligible voters who didn't receive, don't know, or have lost their login (their ASLA member number) and passcode (the unique "e-signature" assigned to each voter by SBS) should visit the online voting site at https://www.directvote.net/ASLA/. There they can submit a request to SBS to email the information to them. The email address to which they ask SBS to send their login and passcode must match their email address on record with ASLA.
- All ballots, whether electronic or paper, are coded to the individual voter. If a member submits both an electronic and a paper ballot, only the first ballot received will be counted, and the second will be disqualified.
- For technical support and election-related questions, voters should call SBS at 952-974-2339 or send an email to support@directvote.net.
