EPICENTER
students associates chapters spotlight ASLA Home ASLA

Dear ASLA Student and Professional Members,

As the newly elected National Student Representative to the Board of Trustees I would like to introduce myself. Currently I am a junior at Mississippi State University where I have been working with the student chapter ASLA for almost three years now. ASLA has become my passion and I will do whatever it takes to represent the student membership as best as possible over the next year.

First, I want everyone to know that communication will be key. Everyone, students and professionals alike, should feel free to contact me at any time with their concerns and ideas via email or facebook. I am looking forward to hearing from everyone.

Additionally, I want to use my leadership, organization, and research skills to create a stronger, more communicative relationship between student chapters so I can better relate to the board of trustees what is important to the students. I want to use my passion for policy to drive the students to learn about lobbying early on, becoming educated on the issues and initiatives that shape our profession as a whole. I hope to use writing as a tool to strengthen communication between student chapter presidents and members to work toward common goals. I would also like to see some sort of program set up to highlight the possibilities this profession offers that are unconventional. I think it is important to inform students of all the possibilities they may not previously get exposed too.

I have provided you with a brief introduction of who I am and what the goals for my term are. I am excited about the upcoming year and am looking forward to serving as your National Student Representative.

Thank You,

Jordan R. Jones
