On July 17-20, 2013, the Florida Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects will be heading to the iconic Renaissance Vinoy and Golf Club in St. Petersburg for its annual statewide conference. The conference was last held here more than 12 years ago and during the time that has passed, a dynamic urban transformation has occurred steps from the Vinoy. The surrounding waterfront and Beach Drive have been transformed into vibrant pedestrian oriented center featuring museums, artist galleries, dining, entertainment, recreational and sightseeing venues for all to enjoy.
There are six tracts being proposed. Within each track, FLASLA has identified a number of recommended course topics that it would like to feature. In addition to regular courses offering CEU credits, the conference will be offering one or more Advanced Building Code and Law Courses required by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. The educational tracts for the 2013 Conference are as follows: Track 1 - Growing Your Practice; Track 2 - Building a Better Toolbox; Track 3 - Advancing a Sustainable Future ;Track 4 - Emerging Design Trends; Track 5 - Integrating Nature and Practice; Track 6 - The Business of Doing Business.
HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
Please fill out the Application and Course Outline below. The first is an overall description of the tracks and some potential courses that have been suggested. THESE ARE ONLY SUGGESTIONS. Feel free to offer any courses you think would add value to the conference. The second document is the course application and course outline. These items are critical for us to get CEU approval for the courses at the conference.
PLEASE NOTE: All submittals must be received by November 16, 2012. COMPENSATION: Each speaker will receive a one day pass to the conference OR 50 percent full conference registration. Keynote speakers will receive a fee.
CREDITS: All courses selected will be processed for professional approval through Florida Board of Landscape Architects, LA CES (accepted by most states) and APA. Please note that not all courses will qualify for APA credit.
Call for Course Submission: Due Friday, November 16, 2012.
Notification of Selection: Thursday December 6, 2012.
Digital Course Presentation: PowerPoint or other submitted by June 1, 2013 to the Conference Chair for future posting on web site.
REQUIREMENTS: Completed application form (writable PDF format) Completed Course Summary and Outline (Microsoft Word Document). Length: 2 hour time slot with a minimum of 100 minutes of presentation time OR a 1 hour time slot with a minimum of 50 minutes of instruction. All rooms will have a projector, screen, and computer.
