A 14 panel display will be placed at the Indianapolis Arts Garden, along with past INASLA design award winners to serve as an educational display for the greater Indianapolis area.

Name of activity: Member and Vendor Appreciation Forum
Date: Early April
Location: TBD (downtown Indianapolis)

Brief description of event:
To kick start the month of April, and to celebrate the wonderful and diverse profession of landscape architecture we will be having an informal member forum in downtown Indianapolis. This event will serve to connect professionals in and around the city, and also to interact with our valued vendors throughout the state. We will also be using this opportunity to launch the new INASLA website.

Name of activity: Student Office Tours
Date: April 15, 2009
Location: Various offices in downtown Indianapolis

Brief description of event:
Students from Ball State and Purdue will have the opportunity to interact with professionals by way of a variety of office tours. The students will be invited to several downtown offices to discuss the firm, their structure, project types and what they are seeing as trends in the profession. The afternoon will end with a pizza dinner and one-on-one discussion with practicing professionals.

Name of activity: Carmel Indiana Arbor Day Tree Planting

INASLA has agreed to team with the City of Carmel, Indiana to sponsor and participate in their Arbor Week Tree Planting program at Founders Park. This event will be a way for the membership to educate younger children on the benefits of tree planting, and the basics of the profession.

Name of activity: Columbus Indiana Arbor Day Tree Planting

Name of activity: Project Green Schools

Brief description of event:
This year we will be partnering with KIB and several local schools to provide landscape architecture services to school groups. The Project Green School program allows selected organizations the chance to dream big, while educating children and their parents on the value of outdoor spaces. These projects typically include a series of design meetings and one build day with community volunteers.

Name of activity: Spring Fest

INASLA will be providing support to the Purdue Student Chapter of ASLA while they engage local community members and educate them on the profession and Purdue’s landscape architecture program. They are tentatively planning a design charette and graphic workshop.
