Name of activity: Centennial Outdoor Garden Project
Date: Friday, April 24th Presentation
Location: Liberty Elementary School, Buckeye, Arizona

Brief description of event: The Arizona Chapter’s Central Section is partnering with the gifted students at Liberty Elementary School in Buckeye, Arizona to celebrate National Landscape Architecture Month by holding a series of workshops aimed at introducing the students to the profession of Landscape Architecture. 
We are collaborating with the students to design and create, The Centennial Outdoor Garden Classroom, which will occupy an undeveloped area on the grounds of one of the West Valley’s most historic schools.

Name of Activity: AzASLA Metro Light Rail Event
Date: April 11, 2009
Location: Tempe Transportation Center (TTC) Plaza
Additional sponsors or participating organizations: Kornegay Design

Brief description of event: This event is to highlight the involvement by AzASLA members in the planning and design of the new Metro light rail system which began service in January 2009. Activities include displays & exhibits on the design & planning of the light rail system, a special viewing of the TTC rooftop garden and hiking “A” Mountain. A light rail photo contest is also being organized in conjunction with the event. The winners of the contest will be announced at the 2009 AzASLA Annual Awards Gala on April 25th.
